170KG at 56KG clean and jerk. Now THATS a LONG beautiful second pull. Such a quick first pull. Brilliant athlete. Thanks @awesome_weightlifting for this video ------ Someone PM'ed me asking why he didn't "Just get under the bar faster". 1. There's a point in life, where you appreciate good lifting. It's when a man's lifting 3x his bodyweight, over his head. 2. How does one get under the bar, faster? #weightliftingtechnique #weightlifting #crossfitweightlifting #crossfit #chineseweightlifting #cleanandjerk

One of the greatest lessons I learned in China, is the ability to "forget". Forget what you know is correct, if you want to learn our ways. If you want to learn another person's ways, you have to let go of your current ways Thanks to this, I've found that moving someone's torso to a vertical position, immediately after the bar passes the knee has worked tremendously well. And of course this completely contradicts the "stay over the bar" cue, but try it out. You might just enjoy it Now I'm still helping out with technical tips, but I really need the guys to put the proper instructions. "Need your help Kirksman, if you miss this I'll tag you again tomorrow". The girls, no problem. They read instructions. Want big quad pumps? Protecting the knee? Here's a movement you could incorporate. Usually done in the 15-20 rep range for at least 5 sets. Well all movements are done with at least 5 sets anyway Relax... if you've read a recent research that its more of a calf exercise. I've seen it too. I just choose to disagree because it didn't apply to me. Research is seen very differently in China. It is to explain deeper into the coaches and athletes discoveries and experiences in the gym. It isn't to be the leading method to developing training methodologies Each athlete will feel different muscle groups and impact of the movements they incorporate. The research comes in to explain why based on their muscular insertion, limb lengths, sequence of movement execution, etc. That's why I read many years ago... a bodybuilder saying pec flies or something creates the gap between the pec. An anatomist said nothing in that movement can create a gap. Yet the bodybuilder swears by it. So in the case of this, is the bodybuilder's experience false? This was during the teenbodybuilding.com days. Actually try asking CT Fletcher 😂 I'll leave you to draw your own conclusions but I know where I stand today. Its different from a few years ago #lifthardwl #fitness #chineseweightlifting #weightlifting #narrowsquat #crossfitweightlifting #crossfit #squats

145KG hang snatch at 62KG at 19 y/o. When I showed this to a new online client, she instantly understood how to use her legs She was always told to keep shoulders over the bar. Because of the misrepresentation of that cue in her head, it caused her to smash her hips into the bar but kept her knees soft Watching this, she built her cue of, "Catch the hanging donut 🍩" which allowed the hard extension of the legs not the hips If this helps anyone, drop me a PM and tell me whats your cue #lifthardwl #weightlifting #chineseweightlifting #snatch #crossfit #crossfitweightlifting

One of the best exercises to teach pulling straight, is this "Trap bar pulls" While I rarely see this apparatus in China, I do see them doing dumbbell pulls which mimics the pattern of being centred. The benefits I've experienced and tested are; 1. Easier to understand "Sit your hips, and use your legs" to stand during the first pull 2. Stability in the feet which help build stronger arches 3. Stand on a pair of 25KG plates, use the bottom handle and do 20 reps for the quad pump of your life 4. Have back and knee pain and can't understand sumo deadlifts? Here's your answer 5. Want to answer the question in your head of "How do I pull straight and close??", again this is your answer The trap bar is relentless in demanding you stay centred. Raise your butt a bit and you get thrown forward. Lean back too soon and you fall backwards. Refuse to address your lateral imbalance, and find yourself helicoptering when you lockout. Let the bar drift away a bit and find yourself taking a step forward to save it. Its a brilliant tool I usually do them with 8 reps/6 sets at about 70% of my squats 1RM before squats. They help me really groove the positions I need to be in before I squat #lifthardwl #weightlifting #chineseweightlifting #crossfitweightlifting #crossfit #pulls #deadlifts #legs

230KG back squat max at 69KG. This guy has weak legs but an epic technique so Coach allows him to max out occasionally. However occasionally is once every 2-3 months so that's actually quite frequent compared to the rest of the crew. That way they can figure out what the correction is next For him, he'll be stuck doing loads of right glute medius, adductor work, and left quad and hamstring assistance work --------------- When we assist, we're paying attention to an INCREASE in DESCEND speed or - DECREASE in ASCEND speed. Catch the bar while the momentum is still there or after a while they won't ask you to assist anymore This is a great way to see if your training partners actually even like you. If they wait till you fail before pulling you up, maybe don't trust them with a knife around you #lifthardwl #chineseweightlifting #weightlifting #squat #squats #booty #legs #legday #maxout #crossfitweightlifting #crossfit ----------------- Translation: "U almost got it.
